The cyclone Jal today brought with it light to moderate rains and overcast clouds in parts of Rajasthan as winter inched closer, a Met official said.

The day temperature sharply declined by two to five degrees in the state due to thick clouds and north-easterly winds following entry of cyclonic waves, the official said.

Temperature during the night rose by two to four degrees at almost all places in the state. Mount Abu recorded the lowest temperature of 12 degrees, followed by Sriganganagar (14.8 degrees), Bikaner (16.6 degrees), and Jaisalmer (16.8 degrees) yesterday night.

Meanwhile, Kota recorded 3.6 mm of rainfall, followed by Udaipur (2.9 mm) and Chittorgarh (0.5 mm). There was drizzling in many cities including Jaipur, and Mount Abu.

Jaipurites experienced a mild chill early today with clouds hovering, and later in the day scattered light rains sprinkled the city.

The night temperature rose to 21 degrees from 17 degrees last night.

As soon as the "Jal impact" passes, the fresh north-easterly winds will bring winter for good after two days, a forecast said.
