The police custody of teacher-turned-cyanide killer, Mohan Kumar, has been extended to November 2, a top police official said.
He was produced before the Bantwal Judicial Magistrate First Class Court today which ordered extension of custody by another six days, superintendent of police, Dakshina Kannada, Dr A Subramanyaeshwara Rao told PTI.
Kumar, who was nabbed at Deralakatte village in Bantwal taluk on October 21, was arrested on charges of murdering 19 women.
A one-time primary school teacher, Kumar would allegedly lure women with promise of marriage, establish physical relationship with them and in some cases take away their jewellery before murdering them.
Police said he would offer the gullible women cyanide, saying it was a pill to prevent pregnancy and then decamp with their jewellery.
