Crowd on rampage after bus kills youth in Gujarat

Commuters and locals went on a rampage in Chandlodia, after a 24-year-old youth was killed when he was hit by an AMTS bus on Wednesday. The incident happened at Chandlodia crossroads, opposite Bombay studio.

The AMTS bus accidentally hit a bike that was being driven by one Harshad Makwana.Makwana, who suffered head injuries, died on the spot.

His friend who was riding pillion with him escaped with minor injuries. Harshad, a resident of IOC road, Chandkheda, was a student of RC Technical College in Sola.

After the accident, a crowed gathered at the spot and began throwing stones at the AMTS bus. They also targeted another bus passing through the area.

The driver of the bus, Laxman Chavda, immediately rushed to the Sola police station and sundered himself. According to his statement, the bike was being driven parallel to the bus and it suddenly came in the way and got hit.

Chirag Parmar, who was driving pillion with Makwana, in his FIR has accused the bus driver of being careless. Parmar and Makwana lived in the same society. Parmar said the bus hit them from behind and this resulted in the death of his friend.
