Crime branch sleuths have detected a credit card fraud and arrested two persons in this connection. The two used to dupe customers by promising new credit cards, generally golden credit cards having higher purchase limit, in exchange of old credit cards. However, the golden credit cards given to the customers were duplicates and the two used the old credit cards to shop for electronic gadgets.

The arrested include Mayur Panchal and Shaktisinh Parmar. The two were arrested after one Harshad Patel lodged a complaint on receiving a bank statement which showed that he had made purchases worth Rs 93,000.

Crime branch sources said Parmar who used to work at Pathak Associates in CG road used to call up credit card holders and tell them about a new scheme which promised them new cards instead of the old ones.

He would tell the card holder that a person from the company would visit them and the card will be replaced once a form is filled.Parmar who used to visit the customer gave them duplicate golden credit cards in exchange for old ones.Crime branch PI, BC Solanki said, "Based on the complaint the two were arrested." Solanki further said, after assessing the bank statements the crime branch officials traced the duo through their mobile IMEI numbers.
