CPI-ML for white paper on rail accidents

The CPI-ML (Liberation) today demanded that the Centre bring out a white paper on the railway accidents in India.

"The UPA government should bring out a white paper on the accidents that occurred in India," CPI-ML general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said while talking to reporters here.

Stating that the safety had become "an important question" for Indian railways, Bhattacharya demanded immediate resignation of railway minister Mamata Banerjee owing moral responsibility for the accident.

Sixty six people were killed and many injured in a collision between Uttarbanga Express and Vananchal Express that took place at Sainthia station in Birbhum district of West Bengal yesterday.
