Putting at rest the controversy on the issue of Dr Narendra Amin, the Special CBI Magistrate Court on Wednesday ordered the jail authorities to provide ample security to him or if needed, to change his barrack for his safety.
However, Amin raised objection to the order with reference to the term 'ample,' claiming it was a very relative word.
The CBI had moved an application before the Special Magistrate Court to provide Amin protection in jail against alleged threats and attempts to kill him. However, CBI had also said in its application that after the reports of the conspiracy on eliminating Amin came to light, Amin's wife approached CBI to take steps to provide him ample security.
While arguing the case, Amin informed the court that he was so afraid of the security guards and the jail officials that he had started locking the door of his barrack from inside with the help of a chain-lock.
Moreover, he had also alleged that in the name of security his freedom was taken away and he was being suffocated. He further argued that he feared that the jail officials were trying to eliminate him.
The controversy about Amin's security arose after one of the inmates Sakil, alias Teja Gulab Husain Shaikh lodged
in Sabarmati Jail, had alleged that he was asked
to kill Amin for a sum of Rs10 lakh by the jail officers.
Shaikh in an application filed before the Vadodara sessions court, has sought protection from the officers of the jail as he had refused to be a part of the alleged conspiracy to kill Amin.
