10-10-10 @ 10:10 am! This date and time, at a first glance, may remind you that you need to cast your vote for Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections, as on this date the civic poll is being held. But the date has another significance, particularly among couples expecting a baby.
For such couples, this ‘magic’ date and time seems to be a hot favourite. In fact, many of them are pestering their gynaecologist to know if their baby can be delivered on this date and time. Some enthusiastic parents-to-be have gone ahead and booked a table in the operation theatre for a caesarean.
Dr Nayna Patel, an IVF expert in Anand, recently get one such request from a couple who wanted to plan a c-section operation to welcome their baby on 10-10-10, which they believe is an auspicious date! Though the date, 10-10-10, falls on a Sunday when the clinic does not do a C-section, the couple made a special request to Dr Patel to do the same on the date and that too at 10.10 am.
“The expectant mother believes that it will be easy for her child to remember his birth date and time as everything is 10,” said Dr Patel. She said her patient is expecting a baby on October 20 and if she doesn’t go into labour before October 10, they plan to have a cesarean on 10-10-10.
Doctors in Ahmedabad say they too get such strange requests from parents-to-be.
Dr Bela Desai, a city-based gynaecologist said they often get request for c-section from expectant mothers for such special days. “But we only consider their request if it is in the interest of both the baby and the mother,” said Desai.
Another gynaecologist, Dr Atul Munshi, said the request for such c-section is likely to spike after October 4. Astrologers and numerologists say they are not surprised that couples want their child to be born on a particular date and time as it is an auspicious one. A city-based astrologer, Hemang Shastri, said the time and date (10-10-10) is very auspicious as it falls during Navratri and a child born on the day will be very lucky.
Numerologist Nayna Bramhbhatt said “10-10-10 at 10.10 am adds to 5. The number 5 is very lucky and a baby born on the date at the given time will have a magnetic personality and will be very
disciplined.”
