Corruption in judiciary cause for concern: Manmohan Singh

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today expressed concern over corruption in the judiciary and the legislature and stressed the need to get rid of it.

"With regard to corruption in judiciary, corruption in any walk of life, whether it is judiciary, executive, legislature, should be a matter of concern to all thinking people in our country," Singh said at an interaction with editors of the electronic media New Delhi.

"...Therefore, I am not second to anyone in saying that if there is corruption, whether it is in judiciary or in executive or in other walks of life, we must get rid of it," the prime minister said.

His remarks came in response to a question on allegations of corruption against former chief justice of India KG  Balakrishnan who now heads the National Human Rights Commission.
