Twenty four hours after the landslide at the Parimal underpass buried alive five labourers, an FIR is yet to be registered in the case. Sources in the Ellisbridge police said that an FIR will be registered only after an inquiry report of the AMC is made public.
Sources close to the development said the report will indicate who is responsible for the incident and thereafter a complaint will be filed against the accused. Police inspector of Ellisbridge police station, Kaushik Pandya told DNA that a complaint can be filed against the accused only after the agency investigating the matter comes out with its findings.
Another source with the Ellisbridge police said one more reason for the delay could be that the labourer who was injured in the landslide has so far refused to file a complaint.
"Hiralal Bamaniya, the injured labourer is not willing to file a complaint in the matter due to reasons best known to him," said the source.
Five people were killed at the Parimal underpass located near Juta Bazaar on Friday evening after a mound of earth fell on the labourers working there.
The deceased were identified as Kalu Gharasiya, Jaisinh, Mansinh, Hiralal Neenama and Kamlesh Badamir.
All labourers belonged to Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has ordered an enquiry into the matter. Sources said that the work was being handled by Ravi Builders.
