Tourism industry players in Goahave demanded that policemen involved with drug mafia in thestate should be nailed to protect the future of this industry.
"We must give clear signal to people worldwide that Goa is serious when it comes to dealing with drugs, and we don't even spare policemen, if they are involved," Ralf De Souza, president, Travel Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) told PTI.
He said that cases related to policemen involved with drug peddler should be investigated properly and entire linkshould be dismantled.
"This will send a strong message to the world thatsuch things are not welcomed in Goa," De Souza said.
Crime branch is probing the nexus of policemen withIsraeli drug peddlers Yaniv Benaim alias Atala and David Driham alias Dudu.
Seven policemen were arrested for their alleged linkwith drug peddlers resulting into the entire audit of functioning of Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC).
De Souza said things would have been worse for the industry, if king-pins in this trade were not caught.
He said Goa police themselves should do thorough investigation in this case, which will help solving various problems ailing the tourism industry.
Goa receives around 24 lakh tourists annually, ofwhich four lakh are foreigners.
The state has seen drop in English visitors while guests from Russia are increasing in the state famous for its beaches.
