Bopal police on Thursday claimed to have cracked the poisoning case of builder Laxman Sindhi’s family after a minor Ganesh Dunkar admitted to the crime. The sixteen-year-old servant confessed that in the company of the two cooks – Pravin Dunkar and Lalit Kalal – he hatched the conspiracy to kill the Sindhi family and make a quick buck.

Sindhi, along with his doctor-wife Rani and son Suchit, survived after the trio tried to poison them on Tuesday.

According to Bopal police officials, Ganesh was well aware of his actions. “Ganesh wanted to make quick money and the only way he could think of was by eliminating the Sindhis. He knew that being a minor, no one will point a finger at him. He also lured the two cooks and got them involved in this wicked plan, which was chalked out last month,” said police source. Ganesh belongs to Dungarpur region of Rajasthan, where he hatched the conspiracy.

Moreover, the cops also stated that shrewd Ganesh had seen Rani using a syringe. “He knew that a pest control chemical was lying at home. As part of his fool proof plan, he injected poison in the food using the syringe. However, Rani smelt a rat. After having a couple of morsels, Rani realised that the food was stinking of poison. She immediately checked, got to the root of the act and prevented a tragedy,” police said while praising Rani’s alertness.

Rani immediately called the police, before she summoned the trio, which was part of her plan. The crooks rushed to the Sindhi household only to be caught by the police, who arrived there sometime later. The trio has been arrested and booked under attempt to murder. Meanwhile, Suchit was shifted to hospital, has recovered and returned home.
