Constable injured as Maoists set off mine in Bihar

A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable was injured in a mine explosion triggered by Maoists in Gaya district of Bihar, where the final phase of assembly elections was being held today amid a poll boycott call by Naxalites.

The incident took place in the morning while security personnel were crossing a hilly dry rivulet on foot near Barachatti police station area in Gaya.

Maoists detonated a pressure-mine inflicting splinter injuries to one constable, Director General of Police Neelmani said.

He was brought to Anugrah Narayan Medical College and Hospital in Gaya where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, securitymen recovered some "fake" bombs planted at three booths in Kasma police station area in Aurangabad district and at Ghatera booth under Guraru police station in Gaya district, Neelmani said.
