The opposition Congress today walked out of the West Bengal assembly alleging irregularities in distribution of SC, ST and OBC certificates.

Backward classes welfare minister Jogesh Burman earlier said that there was no instance of harrassment to candidates on distribution of SC, ST and OBC certificates in the state.

Steps had been taken by his department for distributing the certificates through specially set up camps in districts, he said.

Congress member Nepal Mahato moved an adjournment motion in the House demanding discussion and a statement by the minister after stating that the reservation policy for SC, ST and OBC was flouted in the state for recruitment of primary teachers.

When deputy speaker Bhaktipada Ghosh, asked the minister if he would give a statement, he did not.

Congress members then rose on their feet in protest demanding a statement by the minister, who stuck to his decision. The Congress members then walked out in protest.
