Toeing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s line, who are organising sammelans to establish their connect with the people, Congress leaders are also leaving no stone unturned to win brownie points ahead of the elections. They have started meeting people from all classes of society.

Congress leaders Shankarsinh Vaghela, Arjun Modhwadia and Shaktisinh Gohil are on a two-day visit to Surat that began Saturday to establish connect with party workers and people. They addressed Halpati Sammelan at Gangadhara in Bardoli taluka of Surat district on Saturday morning.

A meeting between Congress leaders and textile traders was also organised at the NTM market in Surat, later in the evening.

“The meeting addressed issues of textile traders. Though we are not in power in the state, we can definitely take up issues that can be solved at the central level. We are here to learn about those issues and find solutions to them,” said Aslam Cyclewala, Congress spokesperson in Surat.

According to Cyclewala, All India Congress Committee (AICC) is serious about maintaining and fostering relationship with all classes of society. The party has asked all its leaders to create a bond with workers and voters.

Congress leaders on Sunday will attend a series of meetings. There is a Snehmilan Samaroh between textile traders and party leaders at Terapanth Bhavan in Citylight and meeting with doctors and advocates at Samruddhi Hall in SGCCI in Nanpura.
