The Congress corporators from Gomtipur ward used flex banners to present the problem of overflowing drainages in their ward. However, the new style of protest did not go down well with the ruling party, especially standing committee chairman Asit Vora.
Iqbal Sheikh, Congress corporator from Gomtipur, made a representation about various civic issues in the ward. He said that overflowing drainage water has entered temples and mosques in the area, which has angered people.

He along with two other corporators from the ward rushed towards the secretarial desk with flex banners showing photographs of religious places flooded with drainage water. Asit Vora, standing committee chairman, opposed such method of demonstration in the house. "This method is not acceptable," he said. He also asked the opposition leader Surendra Baxi not to favour his corporators.

However, Baxi replied that even though top AMC office bearers and officials have visited the place, the issue of overflowing drainage has not been resolved.

He also alleged that instead of rebuking the administration for not solving the problem, the BJP is trying to cover it. Earlier, former mayor Himmatsinh Patel said that the ruling party was ignoring the issues concerning the common man.

"Although people are making repetitive complaints about shortage of water and drainage choke up, the issues are never solved." Patel said the poor service was due to insufficient equipment. "If the administration cannot handle the situation, we should bring in more people from other municipal corporations just as AMC sends fire brigade to other cities," he said. Patel also raised the issue of two youths who died in the flooded Akhbarnagar and Nirnaynagar underbridges during the monsoon.

"We should find out the technical fault that led to waterlogging and try to fix it at the earliest so that such casualties can be avoided," he said.

Patel also raised the issue of waterlogging on the BRTS route during monsoon.
