Demanding an independent inquiry into alleged financial irregularities in the trusts and firms run by yoga guru Ramdev, a Congress delegation today submitted a memorandum to Uttarakhand Governor Margaret Alva.

The delegation, led by leader of the opposition in Uttarakhand Assembly Harak Singh Rawat, met Alva to press its demand for an inquiry, said a release from Raj Bhawan.

They also submitted another memorandum to Governor demanding action against the state government for misusing government advertisements, it said.

Senior Congress leader Rawat had yesterday criticised the state government for "wasting public money" by publishing the advertisements displaying photographs of BJP president Nitin Gadkari along with chief minister.

Rawat had also said that this was being done by the chief minister and the ruling BJP to make their high command happy.
