CPI(M) today asked the government to compensate those Muslims who were falsely charged in bomb blasts allegedly carried out by Hindu right-wing organisations in the wake of Swami Aseemanand's reported confession.

In a letter to home minister P Chidambaram, party polit bureau member Brinda Karat said the confessional statement of Aseemanand has "further exposed the diabolical role" of "Hindutva" groups in planning and executing bomb blasts.

"The earlier investigations, the public statements of agencies wrongly accusing the Muslim youth of the bomb blasts, their torture and incarceration have brought no credit to the investigations or for that matter to the government which appeared to have gone along with the speculative theories floated by the investigating agencies.

"At least now justice must be done to those falsely accused. Those still in jail should be released without any delay in these specific cases. The Central government must also give them compensation and ensure their rehabilitation," Karat said.

She said most of them were arrested saying that they were involved in the bomb blast cases of Malegaon (2006, 2008), Mecca Masjid (2007) Samjhauta Express (2007) and Ajmer Sharif (2007).
