Air India pilots who went to strike early this year came under heavy ire from Delhi high court on Friday asking them to explain how they could compensate for the agony caused by their stir
to the nation.
A bench of justices BD Ahmed and Veena Birbal sought the proposed course of action from the pilots’ leaders, questioning the bonafide of their written apology, which the bench said, if accepted, will send a wrong message to the society.
“Larger interests of the nation demand there should be discipline and not anarchy,” the court remarked.
The bench further said: “We need to be sure that the pilots will never ever fool around with the court’s orders.”
Amicus Siddharth Luthra also suggested that the pilots may publicize their apology as well perform community service within their domain of work. The court has given the pilots time till August 5.
