Common people should not fall victim to Operation Green Hunt: JMM

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) today said innocent people should not fall victims to 'Operation Green Hunt', the proposed offensive against Maoists in four eastern states.

"There should not be any loss of innocent lives during the Green Hunt Operation. Before any such operation, there should be efforts to talk to village heads to distinguish between villagers and Naxalites," JMM spokesman Simon Marandi told reporters here.

Marandi was replying to a query whether the JMM was in favour of the proposed operation in Jharkhand, West Bengal, Orissa and Bihar.

He said the administration should see to it that the operation did not trigger fear among common people.
