Ex-boyfriend used clips of the girl to keep relationship going.
The crime branch has arrested one Sanjay Thakore for blackmailing a girl with her nude video clips. He apparently wanted to force her to continue a relationship with him. Thakore is believed to be a resident of Thaltej.
He was allegedly arrested by the crime branch on Thursday after the girl, a resident of Bapunagar, filed a formal complaint with the police. “We had received a complaint of blackmail, in which a man was using the nude pictures of a girl taken with the help of a mobile phone,” police inspector, cyber cell, DCB, KK Patel told DNA.
Patel refused to give further details about the case.
Sources in the crime branch said that Thakore had first approached the girl, who is a student of a college in Lal Darwaja, claiming to be a well-settled engineer.
“The man is actually unemployed and just made up the story to impress the girl,” the source said. Thakore then often met the girl and they soon developed a relationship.
“But soon their relationship came to an end. But Thakore called the girl at a hotel to meet her for the last time,” said the source.
Sources said when the girl came to meet Thakore at the hotel, he spiked her cold drink. The girl has alleged that Thakore then stripped her while she was unconscious and took her nude pictures and video with his mobile phone.
“He threatened to circulate the video clips and also put it up on the internet if the girl dared to end their relationship,” said the source.
The girl was thus forced to continue her relationship with him. She has also apparently mentioned in her complaint that she attempted suicide several times to escape the blackmail.
However, when the girl’s family came to know of the incident they approached the crime branch who promptly arrested the man.
