Chief minister V Vaithilingam will leave here for Delhi tomorrow to take up with the Central Government various proposals submitted by the Union Territory administration for its clearance.
To be accompanied by all his Ministerial colleagues, he would meet the Union home minister, the finance minister, Agriculture and Food ministers to seek clearance for the projects, Vaithilingam said on the sidelines of the celebration of the Armed Forces Flag Day here today.
Besides discussions on old age pension scheme, the union territory government would press for speeding up the airport
construction. The need for increasing the strength of police force would be taken up with the Home Minister, he said.
He said his ministerial colleagues would submit soon declare their assets in keeping with the modified code of conduct for chief minsters and ministers.
Vaithilingam had last week sent the statement of his and his wife`s assets to the Centre.
Vaithilingam later handed over the trophy insititued by he Defence Ministry to the Puducherry Directorate of Education
for making highest Flag Day collection of Rs 10.17 lakhs in 2008-09.
Dr S Sundaravadivelou, the Director of the Department, received the trophy.
The chief minister, the Home Minister and the chief secretary also contributed to the Flag Day fund on the occasion.
Karaikal district adminstration bagged the trophy for highest collection in outlying region (Rs 5.25 lakhs) for the fund while Khadi and Village Industries Board was presented the award for good collection of funds under the category of `other organisations`.
