Ahmedabad: A BPO data theft came to light after a client blew the whistle on an employee of FGMB-PM Services Pvt Ltd who had sold the data to a former employee and current rival of the company. FGMB's clients blew the whistle after receiving an email from Salil Thakar, the former employee and current rival.

Complainant Pratik Havar told DNA that some of his clients pointed out the data theft. "The data stolen from my company is worth not less than Rs10 lakh and was stolen for peanuts by my competitors," Haver said.

Company employee Rahul Trilokia allegedly stole the data by creating a fake email ID. "He mailed official data on this ID so that a copy of it remains in the sender's folder," Havar said.

Later on, Trilokia allegedly sold this data to Salil Thakar, former employee and current competitor of FGMB. Thakar then sent some of this stolen data to FGMB's clients, who eventually exposed him.The accused got bail on Monday.

Havar said FGMB is all set to install a new process to secure the company from data-thefts in future. "More safety measures are in process and will be implemented soon," he said.
