Indian commercial pilots' association (ICPA), which claims representation of 800 pilots, threatened to go on strike on November 24 to press for their demands including payment of three months' salary allowances.

"The CLC has called a conciliatory meeting on the issue of strike call given by the non-executive pilots on November 24,"Nacil sources told PTI here today.

Nacil is the holding company formed after the merger of Air India and erstwhile Indian Airlines to a single entity.

On November 1, ICPA wrote a letter to Nacil chairman and managing director, Arvind Jadhav stating that the pilots would strike work if their demand were not met by November 10.

"If the management does not meet our demands by November 10, we will go on a strike from November 24. In that case the letter be treated as a mandatory 14 days strike notice," the letter said.

The letter claimed that Air India has not paid salary allowances, which constitute almost 70-80% of their salary, since August.
