Chiranjeevi's party rebukes Vijayasanthi for asking him to quit Hyderabad

Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) MP from Medak M Vijayasanthi came under fire from the Praja Rajyam today for asking its chief, superstar K Chiranjeevi, to "pack up" and shift to the Andhra region from Hyderabad.

"It is better if she keeps her mouth shut, otherwise the admirers of Chiranjeevi will not tolerate her tongue-lashing," Praja Rajyam spokesperson Vasireddy Padma said.

Vijayasanthi, herself one of Telugu cinema's most popular stars of the 1980s and 1990s, had criticised the Praja Rajyam's united Andhra Pradesh stand and asked Chiranjeevi to shift to the Andhra region, where he hails from.

"He has no moral right to stay in Hyderabad as he is opposed to
the creation of Telangana state," Vijayasanthi said, reacting to the
Praja Rajyam's opposition of a resolution in the state assembly on the Hyderabad Free Zone issue.

Vijayasanthi acted in 17 films opposite Chiranjeevi in her heyday in the Telugu film industry, but bad blood began flowing between the two since the early 1990s.

"Vijayasanthi is a closed shop," PRP leader Buragadda Vedavyas told reporters here. "Everyone knows her roots. She has no right to speak against our leader."

Vedavyas demanded that Vijayasanthi resign from her post if she was sincere on the Telangana issue.

"Vijayasanthi is known for her betrayals," Padma said. "First she betrayed the BJP, then she launched her own party in the name of Telangana, but wound it up to join the TRS. After winning the Medak Lok Sabha seat, she ditched K Chandrasekhar Rao and virtually joined the Congress. But, following YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s death she quietly returned to the TRS as she was left with no other option."

The former heroine was making such remarks only to prove her existence, the PRP leaders said.
