This year's three-day long Chintan Shibir will be held during the Rannotsav in Kutch and that too in a moon-lit glittering white Rann at Dhordo.
Though this was a much talked about venue, clear indication of the Rann being the venue was given by chief minister Narendra Modi in his Cyber Sneh Milan address on Friday.
Chief minister Modi while addressing to the people through video conference noticed a former member of parliament from Kutch on his tv screen in a big gathering of districts top officials and NGOs gathered in the special video conferencing room of the district collectorate here. After getting reports of development work in the border district, the CM said, "Apane tyanto akhi sarkar avi rahi chhe." (the entire state government is coming to Kutch shortly)."
This confirmation has brought smiles on all except officials. The state's biggest district is already overburdened with the mammoth task of organising the Rann festival. Now they have an added burden of making arrangements for ministers and other top officials.
While district collector RR Varsani who was away for an event in Gandhinagar declined to make any comments.
"We will have to make arrangements in the middle of Rann of Kutch where even potable water has to be fetched from other places. The area is close to the border and you have to make foolproof security arrangements for government ministers and officers," a state government official said.
He said that even last year, Chintan Shibir it was decided that it will be held along with Rannotsav-2008, but the government babus in Gandhinagar cancelled it at the last hour.
There is a section in the district administration which feels that it would not be difficult if both events have to managed at the same time.
"We would not need to make any extra arrangements for Chintan Shibir. Already there are 500 ready-made tents at Rannotsav in place. The number of ministers and officials taking part would not exceed 200," a top district official said.
