Home minister P Chidambaram will soon take a view on the report prepared by a Central team which visited West Bengal to assess the law and order situation there.
The team, led by additional secretary (Naxal management) DRS Choudhary, has submitted its report to home secretary GK Pillai last week after visiting the state, which saw a spate of clashes between supporters of Trinamool Congress (TC) and Left
parties in recent past.
"The report is expected to be given to the home minister within this week," a source said, adding the home minister will take a view on it after going through the report.
The Central team had held meetings with senior officers of the state administration and visited a few violence-hit places during their three-day tour.
Railway minister and TC chief Mamata Banerjee has long been demanding sending of a Central team to West Bengal as her party has been claiming that there has been "complete breakdown of law and order".
Both Houses of Parliament had also witnessed noisy scenes over the violence in the state. Left parties and SP members also stormed the well in Lok Sabha raising slogans and warning that any move to impose President's Rule in West Bengal would
be "unconstitutional".
