Delhi Police filed a chargesheet in a local court on Wednesday against Mumbai’s Junaid Khan for allegedly trying to extort money from sitar player Anoushka, daughter of legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar.

Junaid, a sub-dealer in a share trading firm, allegedly hacked into Anoushka’s email account between May 11 and September 14 from Dubai and Mumbai, stole her personal photographs and was blackmailing her.

In the chargesheet filed in the court of chief metropolitan magistrate Kaveri Baweja, the Delhi Police special cell sought prosecution of Junaid under IPC and provisions of the information technology Act.

Baweja posted the matter for consideration on November 13. The court had recently issued letters rogatory to US authorities to gather evidence in the case, after Delhi Police sought details of internet protocol of Anoushka’s email id from Google Incorporation.
