Ahmedabad: One of the busiest roads of the city, the CG road, will turn into a 'Walker's Paradise' from 7 am to 11 pm on Sunday. Several social organisations will be working with the Ahmedabad traffic police and the Ahmedabad municipal corporation (AMC) on Sunday to make the entire stretch of the CG road from Swastik crossroads to Swagat crossroads, a 'no traffic zone'.

A similar effort was made earlier this year, when the city's police and the AMC had declared the road a 'no traffic zone', in an effort to raise awareness about the environment and traffic rules.

On Sunday, the busy road will once again be made free of all vehicular traffic so that pedestrians and children can have a good time without having to worry about traffic mishaps.

Talking about the initiative, deputy commissioner of police (traffic), MM Anarwala, said, "Road safety and 'green Ahmedabad' are the two aims of the initiative. We have plans to organise a 'Walker's Paradise' in a different part of the city every three months."
