CBI has booked Goa’s former tourism minister Francisco Pacheco after the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, the security and law enforcement arm of the US department of state, alleged that he perpetrated a massive immigration and money laundering racket.
“Pacheco and two others have been booked for criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery,” a CBI official said.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that Pacheco “entered into a criminal conspiracy with Pedro Antonio Joanes and Daniel Raymond Fernandes, besides some other unidentified people and obtained visas from the US consulate in Mumbai on the basis of forged documents”.
