The Madhya Pradesh police has registered a case against nine medical aspirants for adopting fraudulent means in a bid to secure admission in the MBBS course this year.
The youths, hailing mostly from Madhya Pradesh, had allegedly got other persons to appear for them in the entrance examination while after passing it, they themselves appeared at the Sagar Medical College for admission, police said here today.
However, the fraud came to light during admission as the photographs of those who appeared in the Pre-Medical Test (PMT), conducted by the Professional Examination Board (PEB), were different from those approached the college for admission, they said.
On suspicion, the college authorities approached the PEB which in turn complained to the MP Nagar police station here about the fraud, sources said.
Acting on the complaint, the police have registered a case of fraud against nine youths including Pradeep Khare, Bharat Singh, Raunaq Joshi, Pankaj Singh, Ashwani, Indra, Dilip, SS Jat and Kamlesh yesterday, they said.
Efforts were on to ascertain the links of the accused with the brain behind the state-wide fraud, police said, adding further probe is in progress.
