Cabinet to prepare note on Wageboard recommendations soon

Justice Majithia submitted his report on Wageboard for journalists and non-journalists in December last and the matter has been pending for cabinet approval since then.

Labour ministry has received replies from several departments on the recommendations of Justice Majithia Wage Board for journalists and non-journalists and they will be sent to the Union Cabinet within a week.

Union labour ministry Mallikarjuna Kharge said the Cabinet will prepare a note on the issue once the replies of the Ministries reach it.

"I circulated to all the ministries the report from Justice Majithia. I got comments from information and broadcasting and commerce ministries. Only thing I had to get was from law. I got it yesterday. Within a week I am sending it to cabinet. Then cabinet will prepare a note," he told reporters here on the sidelines of a function.

Journalists unions including the Confederation of Newspapers and News Agencies Employees Organisations have held protests across the country for early notification of the wageboard recommendations.

They had also sought intervention of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for notifying the wageboard recommendations.
