Sacked Commonwealth Games orginising committee chief Suresh Kalmadi and his lieutenants had gone all the way to favour Swiss company for Timing Scoring and Result (TSR) contract, which ultimately resulted in a loss of Rs95 crore to the national exchequer.

In its chargesheet, the CBI accused Suresh Kalmadi of having close relations with co-accused and promoters of Faridabad-based Gem International’s AK Madan and Purushottam Arya who were involved in the TSR.

The CBI has alleged the duo to be in regular contact with Kalmadi, Verma, Bhanot and other key functionaries. “There is evidence in form of call data records that there were telephonic contacts between them even before February 2009.”

Investigation has revealed that “Lalit Bhanot made recommendations to the ministry of sport for approving awarding of TSR contract to Swiss Timing on a single vendor basis. But such an approval was never accorded by the ministry”.
