A partially burnt body of a youth, who had been traceless since December 16 from Shahbad Daula Pur in outer Delhi, was recovered, and the father of a minor girl the victim had married recently was arrested in connection with the gruesome murder, police said today.

27-year-old Naresh Rana had married the 15-year-old daughter of Hema Ram after eloping with her in March this year. He was facing a case of kidnapping in this connection, police said.

On December 16, Rana, who was on bail in connection with  the case, was on his way to meet someone in Rohini when Ram (50) allegedly picked him up with the help of his cousin Kewa Ram from Narela.

The duo beat up Rana with lathis and finally strangled him. They later dumped his body at Bhorgarh Phase-II in Industrial Area of outer Delhi only after burning it, police said.

Initially, there was no clue about the disappearance of Rana but Ram was picked up for interrogation only on suspicion.

On sustained questioning, Ram  broke down and confessed to committing the crime saying he killed Rana because his daughter told him that she would go with the youth she had married, police said.

Ram did not accept the marriage of his daughter with Rana as the latter belonged to a different caste, police said.

His daughter has been kept at a probation home under judicial custody.
