The Vikram Sarabhai Community Science centre along with the Centre for Community Development held an awareness programme on solar eclipse at a municipal school in Memnagar.
The programme was organised to dispel superstitions associated with the eclipse. The organisers told the students that solar eclipse is a natural phenomenon and the only precaution to be taken during the event is to make use of specially made glasses to view the eclipse. They said that this was done to protect the eye from harmful rays of the sun.

The organisers also gave the students special glasses to view the eclipse.
Students and teachers of standard 6 to 10 attended the programme. Rasik Patel, principal of the Municipal school said, the programme was a hit with both students and teachers."I wasn't aware about the scientific aspect of the solar eclipse. At home, my mother would simply ask me not to look up at the sky during the eclipse period or else I would go blind. But now I know the why and how of it," said Vaishnav Patel a student.
