A local BJP leader was seriously injured when a bullet fired to welcome newly appointed BJP general secretary and MP, Narendra Singh Tomar at Ambah town near Morena in Madhya Pradesh today hit him accidentally.
Tomar, who arrived here for the first time after becoming the party general secretary was given gun salute by the enthusiastic party workers on his arrival at the Ambah town, police said.
However, one of the bullets hit the BJP's divisional Unit vice president, Subhash Sharma in the leg causing serious injuries, police said.
Sharma was rushed to the primary health centre for treatment from where he was taken to Morena district Hospital. However, doctors at Morena referred him to Gwalior Medical College Hospital.
When asked whether any case was registered in this regard, Ambah Police Station In-charge, Dharamveer Singh Bhadoria told reporters that he was busy looking after security at the venue of the programme and would look into the matter after the function was over.
