It is not easy to nail a minister and especially a close aide of a man like Narendra Modi, at least not in his own state.

But this was possible due to an important piece of evidence regarding influencing the witnesses, and the owners of a popular building construction company, Raman Patel and Dashrath Patel.

The Patel brothers had provided the CBI with important evidence in the form of audio and video recordings, which clearly indicate that Amit Shah and Abhay Chudasama were trying to convince, coerce, threaten and/or influence the witnesses.

As mentioned in the chargesheet, the Patel brothers were approached by Ajay Patel and Yashpal Chudasama to submit their statements to the CBI, as provided to them in writing by Abhay. The chargesheet reads that four meetings at different locations were held between Ajay-Yashpal and Raman-Dashrath, and all the four meetings were video recorded by Raman and Dashrath. The video recording was later submitted to the CBI as evidence, which imparted momentum to CBI's investigation in the case.

Raman and Dashrath Patel had also mentioned in their statement to the CBI that after Sohrabuddin was killed, Shah met them at a function where the latter said, "Sohrabuddin was killed because he himself ruled out all ways of his staying alive. There are political compulsions which an ordinary person like him will not understand."
