The Border Security Force (BSF) fired 8-10 rounds, hitting back at firing from Pakistani side near the land border in the desert of Kutch in Gujarat, BSF officials said here today.
"Yesterday evening there was firing from the Pakistani side near the international border in the desert of Kutch. Our troops fired 8-10 rounds in reply," BSF inspector general AK Sinha told PTI.
He said there was no damage or casualties in the incident.
"This was nothing major and the shots could have been fired during some hunting activities going on the other side of the fence," Sinha said adding the shots were not directed at our soldiers.
"Today, we lodged a protest with Pakistani authorities and told them that the shots were fired first from their side," he said.
Following the incident, patrolling in the area has been increased and more men have been deployed there to keep extra vigil on the international border, he added.
