Amidst heightened concerns over the safety of choppers, Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, a frequent flier, today said he would curtail his travel by helicopter from next month.

"I have decided to cut the use of helicopter from next month. I will only be using the chopper to visit districts on two days -- Friday and Saturday," he told reporters in Mysore.

He, however, did not cite any reason for his decision to cut down travel by helicopters.

Yeddyurappa said he would be using the helicopter this month to fulfil his official engagements outside Bangalore.

Various quarters have expressed concerns about the safety aspects of choppers and called for a review of the same in the wake of the death of former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Dorjee Khandu and four others including two pilots, flying in a single-engine Euro Copter B8 of Pawan Hans that crashed on April 30 soon after take-off from Tawang.
