A speeding BRTS bus hit a cyclist near Anjali crossroads on Friday morning, killing him on the spot.

According to Ellisbridge police who have  registered a case in this connection, Hemraj Kallubhai Saroj, 40, a resident of Atulbhai ni Chali in Vejalpur, was on his way to office on a bicycle.

At Anjali crossroads near Deepshanti Complex, he was hit by the speeding BRTS bus ( no-GJ-1-BV-9015).

The driver is said to have fled the spot after the accident.

With Friday’s casualty, BRTS buses have so far killed two people and caused at least 14 accidents in different parts of the city.

The incident has set the alarm bells ringing, as the number of accident involving this service is increasing.

Earlier in February this year, one Mohammed Iliyas Shaikh was killed after he was hit by a BRTS bus. Apart from this, the BRTS buses have caused at least 14 accidents wherein the commuters have sustained injuries.
