In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old boy allegedly raped an 11-year-old girl at Salabatpura in Surat late on Sunday evening.
The incident came to light after the victim narrated the episode to her mother on Monday. The victims’ parents contacted the police who took the child for medical tests.
Eleven-year-old Jasmine (name changed), a resident of Navsari Bazaar, knows the art of preparing rakhis. She was lured by one Jamal Shaikh (name changed), 14, who lives in the same area while she was playing near her house. He also expressed his desire to provide her work and asked Jasmine to follow him to his home.
When the duo reached Jamal’s home, he shut the door and pushed Jasmine on to the bed. After placing a cloth on her mouth, he raped her. He also threatened Jasmine that he would inflict injuries on her family members if she dared to speak anything about the incident to them.
On Monday morning, Jasmine’s mother was surprised to find her daughter complaining of pain in her genitals. On learning about the incident, she immediately contacted the police. Cops rushed to the spot and took the statement of the victim and her family.
She was taken to hospital for medical examination. Police said that further action will be taken only after they get the medical reports. “Once medical reports confirm that the girl was raped, we will register a case and initiate action,” said BT Vadhiya, PSI of Salabatpura police station.
