Accusing Omar of playing the communal card, the protesters demanded Centre's intervention in the issue.
The BJP's youth wing Tuesday took out a protest rally and hold demonstrations against Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his remarks on Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
Led by BJYM state chief Muneesh Sharma, over 300 activists participated in the rally and also staged demonstration in Mehashpura area here.
Accusing Omar of playing the communal card, the protesters demanded Centre's intervention in the issue.
"We condemn his statement in support of Afzal Guru. It is aimed at vote-bank politics to address the separatist constituency of Kashmir Valley. It is against country. Chief Minister is playing communal card by appeasing a particular faith," Sharma told reporters.
In a tweet last week, the chief minister had said, "If J&K assembly had passed a resolution similar to the Tamil Nadu one for Afzal Guru would the reaction have been as muted? I think not."
His controversial comments had come a day after the Tamil Nadu assembly passed a unanimous resolution urging the President to reconsider the mercy plea of three convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case who are facing death sentence.
Sharma said such statements by Omar were against the "spirit of the Constitution".
The BJYM also accused Omar of discriminating with the Jammu region, and asked the Congress to clarify its stand over his announcement of amnesty to stone-pelters during last year's unrest.
"We want that Congress ministers from Jammu should clarify whether they had also supported Omar's announcement of amnesty to stone pelters and discrimination with Jammu youth," Sharma said, demanding withdrawal of cases against Jammu youth who were arrested during Amarnath land row in 2008.
"There cannot be two set of rules from Kashmir and Jammu youths," he added.
