BJP will hold a two-day conclave of its chief ministers to take stock of welfare programmes in their states, suggest implementation of the successful schemes in other states and chalk out a joint strategy against the UPA government.

To be held in the capital on May 9 and 10, the conclave would review the current political situation and brainstorm on issues of good governance, BJP general secretary and spokesperson Jai Prakash Nadda said.

"UPA's wanton disregard for the federal structure and its recent attempts at politicising the proceedings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will also feature in the discussion at this conclave," Nadda said.

The party plans not only to tom-tom its achievements in some welfare schemes like the 20-point programme- in which BJP-ruled states have fared better than the other states- but also look at how governance can be made more transparent and accountable, he said.

"This conference is in a way in continuation of party's efforts for ensuring good governance as also a follow up of the Suraj Sankalp Sammelan held in Mumbai last June," Nadda said.

Since Nitin Gadkari took over as party president, BJP has made this conference of its chief ministers an annual affair.

Two important and successful legislations- passed by NDA-ruled Bihar and the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh- on Loksewa Guarantee Scheme and Special courts scheme- will be discussed with chief ministers of other states. The party feels they should be implemented in other BJP-ruled states as well.

"Agenda for this conference also includes step-motherly treatment to BJP-ruled states by UPA government. This will be the main theme. Other things on the agenda are effective use of Information-Communication-Technology (ICT) for greater transparency and accountability in governance," Nadda said.

He maintained that there would be emphasis also on better co-ordination between state governments and party organisation at various levels.

"At the end of the deliberations, the conclave will be adopting a Charter of Commitments which will set the roadmap for the future course of action. Out of the box ideas will be welcomed during the conclave," Nadda said.

A series of portfolio-wise meetings of the ministers will also be held.

"This will facilitate replicating innovative and effective experiments in different states," Nadda said. While Gadkari will inaugurate the conclave, BJP Parliamentary Party chief L K Advani will deliver the valedictory address.
