BJP today criticised Home Minister P Chidambaram for his remarks on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots that Sikhs should "forget and move on", saying the party will "not forget" the mistakes.

"Chidambaram has been talking about forgetting corruption, forgetting 2G spectrum scam and now forgetting the anti-sikh riots. We will not allow that to happen", said BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain.

Hussain said, "Chidambaram had been talking about auctioning of 2G Spectrum, but accorded post-facto sanction to Telecom Minister A Raja's Spectrum allocation in 2008, even as he talks about forgetting corruption and moving on".

Chidambaram today said that it was time to forget the 1984 anti-sikh riots and move on to build a new India, where every citizen irrespective of faith had equal place.
