BJP today slammed Canada for dubbing BSF as a "violent force" and demanded a response from the Central government on the issue.

"We outrightly condemn the statement and demand that the government of India comes out with a response without delay," party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy told reporters here.

In an obvious reference to the Canadian government, he said, "some governments were playing in the hands of people who are partnering in crimes, killings and elimination of police forces."

In a shocking diplomatic gaffe, the Canadian High Commission here has dubbed BSF as a "notoriously violent force" engaged in "systematic torture".

The High Commission, while denying visa to one Fateh Singh Pandher, a retired Havildar of BSF, has written to him that his status was "inadmissible" as he had served in a force that engaged in "systematic attacks on civilians".
