The BJP and JKNPP members today staged a walkout in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, accusing the state government of shielding the stone pelters by providing them make-shift shops.
The members of BJP, led by Ashok Khajuria, pointed an order issued by the police about rehabilitation of stone pelters in Kashmir valley by providing them make-shift shops and taking them on educational tour around the country and alleged that the government was shielding the anti-social and ant-national elements and giving them moral boost.
The BJP and JKNPP legislators created a ruckus during the question hour in the assembly and staged a walkout.
"It is unfortunate that the Pakistani refugees fighting for the domicile rights since 60 years are not being settled permanently by the government but those who throw stones and shout anti-India slogans in the valley, are being rehabilitated," Khajuria said.
The opposition leaders raised the issue, saying that Jammu and Kashmir government plans to rehabilitate stone pelters under Civic Action Programme and that the decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at Srinagar on January 22.
