BJP in Uttar Pradesh today alleged that the state police was harassing party workers by listing thousands of them as "trouble makers" in the name of maintaining peace ahead of the Ayodhya tile suit verdict likely to be pronounced on September 24.
"Thousands of BJP workers have been bound down by the police, which is trying to create atmosphere of terror in the state," BJP spokesman Hriday Narain Dixit alleged.
He said the police was unnecessarily initiating action against party workers and claimed that a number of Hindu leaders have been given legal notice.
