Patna: Condemning the recent attacks by Maoists in Bihar, RJD chief Lalu Prasad today accused the Nitish Kumar government of failing to rein in their activities in the state.

"I strongly condemn the attacks by the maoists to enforce their shut-down... violence has no place in the society," Prasad told reporters here.

Accusing the Nitish Kumar government of failing to rein in their activities, he asked the Centre to take immediate steps to contain the growing menace of naxalism in the state.

"A series of naxal strikes has made evident the facts that the situation has gone beyond the control of the state police... and there is no guarantee of safety of people and property of Central and state governments," he said.

Referring to a recent mobile phone SMS received by JD(U) MLC Manoj Yadav threatening to kill him along with Nitish and other ruling party MLA, the RJD leader said that when the chief minister himself is not secured, the talks of people's safety will be meaningless.
