Bhaskar tourism fair: Pathway to paradise

As summer vacations inch closer more Amdavadis are on the look out for exotic locations to visit. To ensure that information about various vacation destinations is available under one roof, the Divya Bhaskar Tourism Fair took off at the Grand Bhagwati Hotel on Saturday. The two-day event attracted around 1500 families on Saturday.The fair was inaugurated by state tourism minister, Jay Narayan Vyas, who visited all the stalls and interacted with the participants.

The maximum inquiries came from couples, including honeymooners, looking for a foreign trip.

Places like Brazil, far-east and Europe generated the maximum interest among visitors.

Jayesh Parikh and Nilesh Shah, two professionals in their early fifties chose Europe to spend their vacation. "We have been travelling to various places with our spouse during this time of the year. This time we felt like going to Europe," said Parikh. Shah said he visited US last year and this year he wants to explore Europe for its history and heritage.

For international travelers, packages are available in the range of Rs50,000 to Rs1.5 lakh per person while domestic travel packages are in the range of Rs7,500 to Rs55,000 per person. Director of Pathfinders Holidays, Maitreyee Vakharia said "We have revived over 250 inquiries and are expecting more in the coming day. The demand for both national and international destinations is high." Inquiries for pilgrimage tourism is also on the high, travel agents at the fair said.
