New Delhi: Congress will field Bharat Singh Beniwal in next month's bypoll for Ellenabad assembly seat in Haryana vacated by former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala.

The announcement about Beniwal's candidature was made late tonight by Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi.

Chautala was elected also from Uncha constituency which he has retained.

The byelection for Ellenabad is scheduled for January 20.
