Bangladeshi arrested near Manipur-Myanmar border

A Bangladeshi national, who did not have valid travel documents, has been arrested from a place in Manipur's Chandel district bordering Myanmar, official sources said today.

Personnel of the 29th Assam Rifles battalion nabbed Amir Ahmed (25) during frisking at security check post of Tengnoupal area, about 110 km of here.

The sources said Ahmed, hailing from Chitagong in Bangladesh, had crossed to Myanmar on several occasions earlier.

An identity card, Rs5870 in cash and some daily use items were seized from Ahmed who has been handed over to Tengnoupal police station on Thursday, the sources said.
